AdvancedIllo Project: Mural proposal for the Como Conservatory! *not affiliated with the Como Zoo in any way, just an illustration project*

Proposal: “A mural that will transport the viewer into a different world upon entering the Como Conservatory. Vivid and bright, with lots of abstract shapes, geometrical flowers and friendly faces that will make the user be captivated and indulged in the world they are brought into. I wanted to design a mural that will help illustrate the “otherworldly” experience you get once entering the Como Conservatory, and fully submerging yourself into the space that they have created for people to be in.”

Here’s my nonprofit community project I did for my Professional Practice class! It was based on Asian Women United of Minnesota’s nonprofit group, and all of the amazing things they do to help provide a domestic violence shelter for asian women living in Minnesota. Please check their website: awum.org for more info on what they do and all the help you can get if you are ever in a similar situation regarding domestic violence. You can also help them with their shelter by donating on their website or contacting them on their facebook group on more ways to help them or if you want to volunteer for their internship programs.

Being homebound during this CORVID19 quarantine/social distancing can be very scary for people who have no where else to go to, if you are ever in need of help please reach out to their 24 Hour multilingual helpline: 612.724.8823 where they can give you a safer space and provide legal help as well.

This piece was meant for an assignment where we had to illustrate how overcoming obstacles and exploring human potential was a rich concept and metaphor used in a lot of illustrative work. We were assigned to create an illustration that was supposed to present aspects of "The Heroic" where we challenged our understanding and knowledge of these principles in editorial work.
